My values for diversity, inclusion and equity are the foundation of my approach to teaching. Learning new languages is a way of bringing people together, understanding people’s cultural contexts and appreciating many ways of life.
About Frank Chiechi
My love for Italian culture and language started at home: My parents are from Italy, and I grew up hearing the language and celebrating holidays in traditional Italian ways. My language skills improved after spending one year of high school in Italy. I then graduated with a BA in Italian from Fordham University and later an MS in Italian from Southern Connecticut. Since 2006, I have taught Italian and Spanish to students from all backgrounds in private, charter and public schools, in urban and suburban settings. I help students struggling with Italian to create an action plan, as well as getting them organized and prepared for success in all their classes. While I have had a lot of success teaching to large groups, those who demonstrated the most growth met with me one-on-one or in small groups. This is where we both excel: the student can communicate more effectively what they need and have my 100% attention, and I can tailor my teaching so that they may achieve the best results.
